Environmental Business Award

Environmental Business Award

Ecotourism – In the category of management and initiatives for sustainable development, the main prize was awarded to the ILOHA Seaview Hotel for having created an effective environmental management system to benefit the environmental protection of Reunion Island.

On Tuesday October 13th 2015, Segolene Royal, Minister for Ecology, Sustainable Development and Energy awarded the Environmental Business Awards to 13 winning companies at the World Efficiency trade fair.

In the category of management and initiatives for sustainable development, the main prize was awarded to the ILOHA Seaview Hotel and the PALM Hotel & Spa for having created an effective environmental management system to benefit the environmental protection of Reunion Island. This ambitious initiative was further reinforced when we received the European Ecolabel for Tourist Accommodation Services, making these two establishments a reference for the development of eco-responsible tourism.

This category is a fine indicator of the way businesses are moving towards sustainable growth. Today we can observe the development of new environmental management systems aimed at improving transparency and corporate governance as well as their performance in reducing environmental impacts, which are vital issues for competitiveness. This management is the linchpin for any company to ensure the implementation of concrete and cross-cutting policies for sustainability.
