Beach and lagoons

The town of Saint-Leu stretches along a lagoon. You can swim there in complete safety as it is supervised by a lifeguard station, and it is also protected by a coral reef. There is also a beach at the southern entrance of the town.

KELONIA, marine turtle observatory

This observatory is both a research and care center, an aquarium and a museum dedicated to marine turtles. It contributes to their protection and that of their habitat in Réunion and in the Indian Ocean. The care center takes in injured or sick turtles, before releasing them back into the sea.

La Pointe au Sel

Previously, this point was the site of salt production in Réunion and has today been converted into a museum. The point also reveals a natural pool of salt water and fresh water called “Bassin caverne”, an invitation to swim on this land dried by the sun and sea spray.

The Saint-Leu market

Every Saturday morning from 8.30 am, Place de la République Come and take a stroll along the seafront in Saint-Leu and discover fresh fruit and vegetables, local specialities and handicrafts.

Saint-Leu is renowned for its paragliding spot. From the Pointe des Châteaux, soar above the western coastline and contemplate the breathtaking landscapes of Réunion, right beneath your feet.

This botanical estate is located at the Pointe des Châteaux. There you will discover a coconut grove, a garden, an orchard, an eco-museum of coconut and a craft shop. You will learn about the various uses that can be made of it and participate in workshops.
